Manual Osteopathy

  • Manual osteopathy is a holistic, gentle approach to help ease restrictions and dysfunctions in the body. It is a form of manual therapy that focuses on helping the body heal and restore its overall wellness and movement. Manual osteopaths consider the whole body as a unit and use techniques that are designed to help ease restrictions and improve health and movement of tissues throughout the body.
  • By focusing on your whole body, manual osteopaths are often able to pick up on patterns of dysfunction that other practitioners may have missed. Our gentle, yet highly effective, techniques also appeal to a wide variety of patients, many of whom suffer from chronic pain.
  • Manual osteopaths often incorporate work with the nervous system into their treatments, which helps the body to reset and heal itself.
  • There are 4 tenets that provide the basis of a manual osteopaths approach. They are:
    • The body is a unit. The person is a unit composed of body, mind and spirit
    • The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing and health maintenance
    • Structures and function are inter-related
    • Treatment is based on an understanding of the basic principles of body unity, self-regulation and the interrelationship of structure and function
