Kinesiology Taping

  • Kinesiology taping involves placing a fabric piece of tape on the skin, in various patterns. Oftentimes we perform kinesiology taping at the end of an appointment, so that you can wear it at home for a few days after.
  • It has a similar effect to the cupping, providing a small amount of decompression to some of the underlying tissues. Since it stays on for a longer period of time than the cups, it can have longer lasting effects.
  • Taping may also be used as a gentle sensory reminder to the body. When the tape is placed on the skin it often causes neurosensory feedback to the brain, altering how the brain has previously perceived that area. This can be quite helpful in treating areas of chronic pain.
